The University of Illinois is reviewing a social media post made by a political registered student organization at the University of Illinois that drew backlash from the campus community.

Six days ago, Illini Republicans made a post on Instagram that expressed support for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and denounced “foreign invaders” and “traitors” who allegedly support them.

“For the past 60 years, and especially in the past decade, our nation has come under invasion from the masses of the third world and those incompatible with Western civilization,” the post reads. “Even in the light of fraud in Minnesota have radical, un-American and treasonous few decided to side instead with the invaders, the enemies of the American people.”

The post specifically mentioned Alex Pretti and Renee Good, both of whom were shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis during ICE operations last month, as having “voided” their liberties when they “decided they were above the law and the popular opinion.”

While those quotes remain public, something that was removed since the post’s publication was a graphic that appeared to depict a federal officer holding a gun to a man’s head, accompanied by the words “Only traitors help invaders.”
