A new report claims that the anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activist who was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was linked to a major left-wing network of communist and socialist organizations that quickly used the shooting to mobilize massive protests across the country.
According to Fox News, a database of encrypted messages, alerts, and tracking of ICE “Abductors” reveals that left-wing activists were already mobilized at the scene of Saturday’s shooting before 37-year-old Alex Pretti was killed in an altercation with federal law enforcement officials. The outlet noted that Pretti and other activists were gathered outside a donut shop in an organized attempt to interfere with the Department of Homeland Security’s arrest of an illegal immigrant.
Fox News reported that a network of Marxist, communist, and socialist organizations across the country used Pretti’s death to spark a massive protest operation. Encrypted messages obtained by Fox News show that anti-ICE “rapid responders” tracked federal officials, broadcast ongoing operations, and requested “backup” before and after Pretti’s death.

“Easy. URGENT: observers urgently requested at glam doll donuts @ 26th & nicollet [sic],” a Signal chat alert obtained by Fox News stated. “An observer has been shot by ice, unknown condition, emts [emergency medical technicians] present, please be safe. EDIT: medics requested to join perimeter in case agents start gassing. be aware there are many agents and mpd [Minneapolis Police Department] officers present.”
Just minutes after the message was sent out, left-wing activists gathered on Nicollet Avenue in a major protest, according to Fox News. The outlet noted that boxes of supplies were spotted along a sidewalk in Minneapolis to provide protesters with hats, masks, and water bottles.
According to Fox News, leaders of socialist groups quickly deployed “rapid responders” in Minneapolis and formed mobilized protests in other cities, such as Los Angeles and New York City. Fox News reported that while protesters openly voiced support for communism, Marxism, and socialism on camera, left-leaning media outlets, such as CNN and MSNOW did not identify the left-wing networks responsible for organizing the protests across the country.
A digital analysis of rapid-response messages conducted by Fox News revealed that multiple socialist and communist organizations were responsible for mobilizing protesters. Fox News reported that the network of left-wing organizations linked to the protests over the weekend included BreakThrough News, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the People’s Forum, Democratic Socialists of America, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee, and Socialist Alternative.
In a Saturday post on X, formerly Twitter, Vice President J.D. Vance addressed the “engineered chaos” created by “far left agitators.” “This level of engineered chaos is unique to Minneapolis,” Vance said. “It is the direct consequence of far left agitators, working with local authorities.”
