A new report claims that President Donald Trump’s administration is deploying up to 2,000 Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to Minnesota as part of a 30-day crackdown on illegal immigration and widespread fraud.

Anonymous Homeland Security sources told The Daily Wire that federal officers from across the United States were ordered to head to Minnesota “ASAP” over the weekend as part of the surge of federal law enforcement officials in the state.

CBS News reported that multiple law enforcement officials with knowledge of the Trump administration’s plan confirmed that the administration had started deploying hundreds of Homeland Security agents to Minnesota’s Twin Cities region in an effort to crack down on illegal immigration and the fraud scandals across the state. Officials told CBS News that the surge of federal officials could include approximately 2,000 ICE and Homeland Security Investigations agents.

According to CBS News, the anonymous officials explained that the deployment of up to 2,000 federal agents in Minnesota is part of a 30-day operation in the Twin Cities region of the state and that Homeland Security Investigations is expected to investigate multiple allegations of fraud in the area.

Senior law enforcement officials told CBS News that the 2,000 federal agents deployed to Minnesota include hundreds of agents from ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and hundreds of agents from Homeland Security Investigations, as well as Special Response Teams and high-ranking supervisors.

A Homeland Security Source told The Daily Wire that ICE has planes in Minnesota prepared to fly detained illegal immigrants to other detention centers in the United States before ultimately deporting them out of the country. Additionally, CBS News reported that law enforcement officials indicated that U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commander Gregory Bovino is expected to help lead the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in Minnesota.

A former law enforcement official told CBS News that the Trump administration’s crackdown in Minnesota involves a “massive resource allocation” and suggested that Minneapolis will become “the new Chicago” following the Trump administration’s previous immigration crackdown in Illinois.
