A state representative in Kentucky said during a Tuesday hearing that white people should feel guilty about their skin tone while debating diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

Republican state Sen. Lindsey Tichenor of Smithfield, Kentucky, introduced legislation to ban DEI from public schools in the state Tuesday, the Paducah Sun reported. Democratic state Rep. Sarah Stalker of Louisville, Kentucky, objected to the bill, saying DEI allowed students to “reflect” on the “historical privilege” white people had during the hearing.

“I’m going to be honest, I don’t feel good about being white every day for a lot of reasons,” Stalker claimed in the video posted by LibsofTikTok. “Because it’s a point of privilege that I get to move through the world in a way that so many of my other colleagues and friends and family members and of the community don’t get the privilege to do and I’m just a female, just a woman, just a white woman.”
