President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his administration will “permanently pause migration” from third world countries.

In a Thanksgiving message on Truth Social, Trump announced a major crackdown on immigration, saying, “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

Trump’s announcement on Truth Social came after Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who legally entered the United States under former President Joe Biden’s administration, shot two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. The shooting resulted in the death of 20-year-old National Guardsman Sarah Beckstrom and the hospitalization of 24-year-old Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe.

During a Monday press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the Trump administration is “actively re-examining all of the Afghans imported into the country by Joe Biden.”

“Any individual who threatens our national security or our citizenry will be subject to removal,” Leavitt stated. “President Trump has already permanently paused the migration of foreign nationals from third world countries that pose a very high risk to the United States.”

In an interview with NBC News over the weekend, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem explained that Trump is “absolutely determined to stop all processes at this point in time from third world countries until we can have a thorough opportunity to go through these individuals, know they are here for the right intentions and the even should be in our country to begin with.” Noem noted that many migrants come from third world countries with unstable governments and warned that the increased number of migrants from third world countries has led to continued violence across the United States.

“It’s because these countries that people have been traveling to our shores from for so many years under the Biden administration, their governments didn’t tell us who they were. We don’t have a proper vetting process,” Noem said. “That’s one of the things I’m so grateful for is that President Trump has been bold enough to say, you know what, we’re going to stop, we’re not going to allow this to continue until we have a process in place that ensures that it actually has integrity for people that will protect us and keep us safe.”
