Law enforcement officials are currently conducting a manhunt in New York City for three suspects after a 23-year-old was beaten with a baseball bat and fatally stabbed near Times Square on Monday morning.

The New York Post reported that police officials and sources familiar with Monday’s incident confirmed that three suspects remain at-large after beating and stabbing a 23-year-old near Seventh Avenue and 49th Street, which is located close to Times Square in New York City.

According to The New York Post, 23-year-old Daevon Silva, who has been linked to an address in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was taken to Bellevue Hospital and pronounced dead after being beaten with a baseball bat and being stabbed in the right thigh and in the back by the three unidentified suspects shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday. The outlet noted that sources have suggested that Monday’s fatal stabbing incident could be drug-related.

Sources told The New York Post that the 23-year-old victim and at least one of the suspects knew each other and that a dispute between them preceded the fatal stabbing incident on Monday. The anonymous sources told the outlet that while Silva did not have a criminal history in New York, the victim had a light criminal history in Rhode Island. Sources also confirmed that police officials are currently searching for three male suspects.

One suspect is believed to have been wearing all black clothing; a second suspect is believed to have been wearing a black ski mask and a purple sweater; and a third suspect is believed to have been wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and brown boots, according to The New York Post.

Commenting on Monday’s fatal stabbing incident, a tourist from San Francisco told CBS 2, “It’s a little disturbing to hear people are getting stabbed.” The tourist added, “Not what I want to hear my first time in New York, actually.”
