Sgt. Dakota Meyer, a Medal of Honor recipient and a current member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, was announced on Monday as the latest brand ambassador of XX-XY Athletics, which is a “pro-woman athletic brand.”

In a Monday press release, XX-XY Athletics, which claims to be the “only brand to stand up for women’s sports,” announced that Meyer, who has two daughters, is joining the company as the “Ultimate Girl Dad” brand ambassador.

“Dakota is the ultimate girl dad, strong for his daughters and his country. He embodies the kind of moral courage that’s desperately needed in our culture today,” XX-XY Athletics Director Jennifer Sey wrote. “He’s a Marine, a father, and a leader who believes in protecting what’s sacred — and that includes women’s sports. Dakota believes that women and girls deserve privacy, safety and fairness and he’s not afraid to say it. We’re honored to have him join XX-XY Athletics as a champion for truth and for women.”

Meyer reenlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve earlier this year. Meyer had previously served in the Marines from 2006 to 2010 and was awarded the Medal of Honor for “acts of extraordinary heroism” during the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009.

In Monday’s press release, XX-XY Athletics said that Meyer was the first living U.S. Marine to be awarded the Medal of Honor for service in Afghanistan.

“Weak men are rewriting the truth. Real men stand up to protect it,” Meyer said in the press release. “Women aren’t weak — they’re sacred. They shouldn’t be protected out of pity, but out of value. Men must honor women, not control them, not silence them, but stand with them.”

XX-XY Athletics emphasized that Meyer’s decision to partner with the sports brand is not just an endorsement but is a “stand for principle.”

“This isn’t just a brand. It’s a line in the sand. XX-XY Athletics builds high-quality gear, but more importantly, it builds belief — belief that strength isn’t toxic, it’s necessary,” Meyer stated. “That masculinity and femininity are both sacred. That our wives, daughters, and sisters should never have to fight this battle alone.”

In a post on Instagram, Meyer said the “Ultimate Girl Dad” title given to him by XX-XY Athletics is “the standard,” not a slogan.

“It’s about being strong enough physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to protect and provide for the women God entrusted you to lead,” Meyer wrote. “God didn’t give women to men as property. He gave them as purpose. Anything that creates and carries life is sacred, and men have a duty to honor and protect that.”
