GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you are making your way into downtown Grand Rapids over the next few weeks to take in ArtPrize, you may encounter some road construction that could slow you down.
The largest disruption to traffic in the downtown area is the closure of Division Avenue. A stretch of Division between Fulton Street and Michigan Street remains closed until November.
Michigan Street is also closed if you come in from the East Beltline between Leffingwell and Maryland.
This week, both directions of Fulton Street are closed between the East Beltline and Cascade Road.
The good news is all major freeways heading into downtown Grand Rapid are open. While there may be some day projects that pop up throughout ArtPrize, there are few permanent closures that would slow you down. However, the ramp from westbound I-196 to southbound US-131 is scheduled to close from Sept. 22 to Oct. 29.
When it comes to parking, there are many ramp options downtown, both public and private. You can check out the options here.
Street parking is also available. The easiest way to pay is through the MOTU app, but there are also kiosks you can pay at. Keep in mind that some spaces charge on Saturdays.

The most inexpensive way to park and enjoy ArtPrize is to use the DASH service provided by The Rapid. You can park in a DASH lot, most of which are located on the west side of downtown, for just $3 and then take the free shuttle into downtown. You can see the lot locations and the DASH route here.
If you are coming to downtown Grand Rapids for ArtPrize, the best thing you can do is plan ahead where you plan to park and what you plan to see.
