NEW BUFFALO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police used a Taser multiple times on a man who allegedly assaulted someone inside a home he broke into.

Officers with the New Buffalo City Police Department were first called to S Whittaker Street at the railroad tracks near W Washington Street in New Buffalo around 8 a.m. Tuesday after a naked male was reported walking a dog near the railroad tracks.

While officers were trying to find him, they got word that the same person had broken into a home and assaulted someone inside. Police arrived to find he had barricaded himself inside a bedroom of the home and would not come out.

Officers forced themselves inside and took the man into custody. He “violently resisted” and officers used a Taser multiple times. The suspect was taken to a Michigan City hospital to be treated, police said. He was not identified.

The people in the home had minor injuries but did not need medical treatment. No officers were injured, the police department said.
