GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – West Michigan was treated to a light show Sunday night, with the northern lights visible across the region.

Numerous sightings were reported, with dazzling displays of pink, green and, in one instance, what almost appeared to be yellow.

The northern lights — also known as the aurora borealis — are the result of charged particles from space interacting with Earth’s atmosphere, causing air high up to glow.
