GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Another game, another incredible catch by West Michigan native Isaac TeSlaa. The Unity Christian alum brought Lions fans to their feet late in the second quarter when he hauled in yet another difficult one-handed grab.

With 21 seconds left in the second quarter, the Lions were pushing the ball downfield and looking to score before halftime. Quarterback Jared Goff took the shotgun snap and after a three-step drop, threw the ball to the right sideline where TeSlaa was working one-on-one against Chicago’s Tyrique Stevenson.

Stevenson’s coverage was solid, but Goff was able to place the ball just out of his reach, and TeSlaa was able to reach out with his right hand to bring in the ball while falling to the ground. Both of his feet landed in bounds before he rolled out at the 4-yard-line.

Fox broadcaster Kenny Albert lit up during the play, shouting, “Oh! He does it again!”

Now two games into his NFL career, the Hudsonville native has two catches, both of which are worthy of any receiver’s highlight reel. Sunday’s catch set up a Lions touchdown. Last week, TeSlaa brought in an acrobatic one-handed catch in the end zone against the Packers.

TeSlaa spoke with reporters following the game. He says special moments like those catches come down to fundamentals and practice.

“Just where the ball is placed, where the defender is; it’s just something that I have been repping since I knew I wanted to play receiver,” TeSlaa said. “Even when I was a quarterback, I would still run some receiver drills with my dad. It was just a part of the routine we did every day. We would do one-handed catches in every different direction.

“So, just to be able to put that practice into fruition in a game like this, in back-to-back games is super cool. And obviously, you know, none of that would have mattered if we didn’t get the win. So, super happy to get a big win.”

One reporter asked if Sunday’s catch against the Bears was better than his Week 1 grab against Green Bay. TeSlaa didn’t need to give it much thought.

“Just because I didn’t score, I’m going to say no. But difficulty-wise, it was definitely up there,” he said.
