GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An Office Depot worker in Portage is out of a job after video surfaced online showing the employee refusing to print flyers for a vigil for Charlie Kirk.
The interaction was captured on video, in which the worker can be heard calling the flyers for a Friday night vigil in Kalamazoo "propaganda."
Office Depot released a statement Friday night saying it was "deeply concerned by the incident."
“The behavior displayed by our associate is completely unacceptable and insensitive, violates our company policies, and does not reflect the values we uphold at Office Depot," the statement said. "We sincerely apologize to the customer affected and to our community for this regrettable situation."
It said it reached out to the customer to get the order printed. It also launched an investigation.
"(A)s a result, the associate is no longer involved with the organization," the statement read.
Kirk, a conservative influencer, was shot and killed at a Utah university on Wednedsay. A 22-year-old Utah man has been accused of his murder.
There has been fallout for people around the country who oppose his viewpoints and have publicly indicated approval of the shooting. That includes school employees in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Mississippi, Ohio and Oregon, as well as a public relations employee for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers, according to The Athletic.
