GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An array of food and a ‘Polish Triathlon’ are highlights of an open-door event at the oldest Polish hall in the United States.
“One More Que,’’ gets underway at noon Saturday at Jackson Street Hall in Grand Rapids.
Sponsors say the open hall event will allow visitors to see extensive renovations that have taken place since 2023.
As the event name implies, barbeque will highlight the menu.
The event, which is open to the public, bids farewell to summer and welcomes the fall season, organizers say. The cost is $8 at the door.
“We’re opening our doors so people can see more of what we are all about," said hall Vice President Mike Kozal. “The food will be fabulous."
“Both the upstairs and downstairs have been renovated, and the downstairs sports bar absolutely shines," Kozal said.
Menu items include smoked pulled pork barbecue, smoked brisket, brisket burgers, brats, hotdogs and chicken.
And there is the Polish Triathlon, which consists of foosball, darts and pool (eight-ball). There is a $10 entry for two-person teams.
Music will fill the hall from 6 to 10 p.m. The sports bar will also have the Detroit Tigers baseball game on.
Jackson Street Hall, 921 Jackson St. NW, just east of Lane Avenue, is rich with history. The Polish National Aid Society was founded in 1878, with Jackson Street Hall opening 10 years later.
