BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Two cats died in a house fire in Battle Creek early Saturday morning, according to officials.
It happened around 4:30 a.m on Capital Avenue, near East Avenue North. The Battle Creek Fire Department said it arrived less than five minutes after the call was placed. The two story house had flames coming from the porch that quickly rose to the second level.Â
The fire department and Battle Creek Police say that all of the people in the home were out by the time authorities arrived, but the cats were unable to be rescued from the second floor.
Firefighters were able to get the flames under control within 20 minutes. BCFD says that investigators believe the fire began on the front porch outside.
