KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A boil water advisory that was issued in Kalamazoo County has been partially extended for several areas.
The advisory has been extended along the I-94 ramp and surrounding areas including Evans Street, Garden Road, Indiana Road and Mayfair Street.
A map released by the city of Kalamazoo shows the area under boil advisory as of July 11, 2025.
On Tuesday, a drop in pressure happened because of a “private fire line separation†at the Midlink Business Park, according to the city of Kalamazoo. A pressure drop can allow bacteria to enter the water system.
The city of Kalamazoo says that it is required to have two consecutive samples that are safe and 24 hours apart before the advisory can be lifted. The first set of samples passed, according to the city, but the second tested positive for total coliform.
Everyone in the affected areas should boil their water for two minutes before consuming it. It’s safe to bathe in the water without boiling it.
The advisory is expected to be lifted by Monday.
