CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Gerald R. Ford International Airport is receiving nearly $2.4 million through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program for infrastructure improvements.

In a Friday announcement, the airport said the $2,386,331 will support the Phase 1 design work for several upgrades: rehabilitation of Taxiway V, the full reconstruction of Taxiway D lighting and the extension of Taxiway L.

“This funding allows us to move forward with critical infrastructure projects that will enhance safety, improve efficiency, and support future growth. These investments help ensure we continue to deliver a world-class airport experience to our passengers, partners, and community,” Tory Richardson, president and CEO of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority, said in a release.

The improvements are part of the $600 million ELEVATE program, which has included an expanded concourse A, a new air traffic control tower, and additions like an indoor animal relief area and a new rental car building.
