BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Two boaters were rescued from the Battle Creek River Thursday, firefighters said.
Around 1:21 p.m., the Battle Creek Fire Department was called to the river near the intersection of Wagner Drive and Emmett Street in Battle Creek. A boat had gone over the dam and flipped over.
One person in the boat was able to make it to shore by the time firefighters arrived, but the other was still in the water next to the overturned boat. Crews used swift water rescue equipment to help the second person out of the water and then removed the boat, firefighters said.
The boaters were checked for injury and released at the scene, the fire department said.
