GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A pizza spot in downtown Grand Rapids is closing so its owners can focus on other projects, the restaurant announced Wednesday.
The Foolery opened just a year and a half ago, in December of 2023, next to its sibling restaurant, Social Misfits. It served Detroit-style square pan pizza, craft cocktails and beer as well as pasties and salads.
The pizza joint will officially close its doors July 11. In a Facebook post Wednesday, the owners wrote that while it was a “tough call†to close The Foolery, it would allow them to focus their full energy on growing their other brands: Social Misfits and Misfit Society Coffee Club.
“The Foolery was a blast,†the restaurant wrote. “But continuing to operate it would limit our ability to give the rest of our brand family the attention and energy they deserve.â€
A second Misfit Society Coffee Club will open next month in Ann Arbor and the owners are thinking about a third location as well as a second Social Misfits location, The Foolery wrote.
“We’re proud of what we built here—and we’re even more excited for what’s next. Thanks to everyone who partied with us, worked with us, and helped make this place something unforgettable,†the restaurant wrote.
The Foolery is located at 10 Ionia Avenue near Fulton Street, and took over that spot after Wahlburgers closed just two years after its own grand opening.
